Kenya is a nation of immense potential, yet its rapid development has created critical sustainability gaps. Urban expansion and population growth have outpaced infrastructure, leaving plastic to clog our cities and pressure on key sectors like agriculture and health to intensify. We witnessed a generation of young, vibrant Kenyans eager to build their nation but facing a landscape of environmental degradation and limited opportunity. NEXTGEN was founded on a powerful fusion: to channel the visionary energy, tech-savviness, and vitality of the youth, strategically guided by the wisdom and experience of older generations. We asked a fundamental question: what if the very pressures holding Kenya back—like waste and agricultural inefficiency—could be transformed into the engines of its future growth?

Our answer is a multi-sector approach. We are building a portfolio of “NEXTGEN” solutions, from tech-driven agriculture, environmental to mental health support, all interconnected by a single principle: circular sustainability. Our model is built on three core truths. First, solutions must be holistic, recognizing that the health of our environment, our people, and our economy are inextricably linked. Second, innovation must be grounded in evidence, leveraging research, global benchmarks, and community collaboration. Third, scale is achieved through an intergenerational, youth-led model that builds capacity and ownership within the very generation that will inherit this nation.

Our path forward is to establish NEXTGEN as a nationwide platform for youth-led innovation, launching and scaling vetted projects across our key focus areas. The outcome we are building is a Kenya that thrives—where youth are employed as problem-solvers, waste becomes wealth, and sustainable development is the new norm.
